About The Play

Join us for a new theatrical event centered around the reading of When the Bough Breaks, a new play written by Nathan Pittack. This play follows Howard, an injured WWII soldier, back to the states where he meets Marlene, a nurse whose wounds are more internal than battle scars. Howard has unsuccessfully attempted to bury his trauma while Marlene has channeled her pain into her work. As evening fades to night, they share both childhood memories and heavy burdens and confront each other’s brokenness in ways they never expected.

This two-and-a-half-hour interactive session includes coffee and dessert. A panel discussion following the reading will allow audience members to ask questions and hear professionals from various fields speak about how art, vocation, health, and family intersect in our everyday lives.  Details below.
