ABOUT THE Artists
Jonas and Christina Davison are musicians and missionaries, but they aren’t your grandma’s idea of either one. A flutist and audio engineer, Jonas charms audiences with his unique tone and exceptional beatboxing technique. A composer, violinist, and singer, it’s Christina’s job to come up with music for them to make together. In this program, they bring together two of their great loves — Church music and Japanese music.
Jonas served in the US Army band, and during a tour at Camp Zama, just south of Tokyo, he and Christina fell in love with Japan and felt a strong sense of calling to live and serve there for life. They spent all their nights and weekends volunteering with a group called Community Arts Tokyo, and put their skills to use in everything from Bach recitals to all-weekend Art and Faith conferences. Now back in the States raising their support to serve as missionaries, the Davisons perform a patchwork program featuring arrangements of traditional Western hymns with their own special twist and arrangements of Japanese folk music. The common theme that runs through them all is beauty - the beauty of this world we live in and the beauty of love given and received. You can find more about their journey in faith and the Arts at www.davisonfamily.tokyo and www.communityarts.jp.
