Beginning Drawing

Class Description

Studio training in drawing: Sighting and measuring, proportion, positive and negative shapes, hand-eye coordination, and line quality; a concentrated study of linear perspective to depict three-dimensional form and space; use of light and shade to create form through value. Details below.

Strathmore Drawing pad (18"x24", 24 pages): $16.24
3 drawing pencils (HB, 2B, 4B): $1.99 each
Kneaded eraser: ~$1
Magic Rub Eraser: 85¢

Students can find all supplies at Suburban Paint (1378 N Pleasantburg Dr., Greenville, SC). The staff will be able to helpfully assist students in filling their order.


Lewis Carl



About The Instructor


Lewis Carl serves as an assistant professor of Graphic Design in the School of Fine Arts and Communication. For the past 13 years, he served as a freelance artist and missionary with Biblical Ministries Worldwide in Venice, Italy. Mr. Carl earned a BS in Graphic Design (1997) and an MA in Art-Studio Performance (1999), both from BJU. Prior to his service as a freelance artist and missionary, Lewis served as a graphic designer, art teacher, drawing instructor and director of BJU's art agency.
